To make individual greenhouses for plants such as vines, Hoya, fruit plants and many other types of big plants.

The pictures below show how we use them at Areya's Garden in Bangkok : whether we need to root cuttings, to re-root mature plants in a new medium, or to reshape plants that are wilting, to establish hard to restart fruit plants etc the scope is to get a very high level of constant humidity inside individual greenhouses. Outside temperature is in the range 30-35 Cels. outside humidity is around 80 % ( temperature and humidity are remarkably constant ) and the plants are placed above a canal of water.

Such high levels of temperature and humidity do NOT suit established tropical plants; on the contrary most will suffer and may hardly be flowering under too much heat coupled with a too high humidity. Worth seeing, our Hoya established in a Canadian home in winter with a humidifier and a first class care have more showy flowers and gorgeous leaves than they would in our tropical setting.

BEFORE plants are reestablished, while potted in a humid soil, the use of a plastic bag without watering is strongly advised until new green shoots are coming and rooting has expanded. A too long period inside the bag may trigger fungi so attention is required. It may be useful to inoculate the soil with beneficial colonies of Mycorrhizae endospores that will prevent rot driven by the fungus phytophthora ( black rot ). Such endomycorrhizae inoculants will also improve the root system, help keep humidity at a good level and benefit the health of the plant.
