Hoya rooted plant.

Our Hoya comprises 1 or several vines. weigh about 105 gr and are usually cut off at 30-40 cm ( 16 inches ), with an excellent rooting - They are fully grown and mature plants cultivated in our garden in Thailand with many other plant species. Soft Gardening with bio-fertilizers and natural pesticides. Usually the growing medium is a mixture of coconut fibers and sphagnum moss.

These Hoya are shipped bare roots in paper and the carton contains some bits of gel to keep humidity during transport. The gel can be mixed into the soil. We also use a natural preservative that protects the plant and decreases foliar transpiration during transport.

These rooted plants are intended for hobbyists and professional growers experienced in transplanting with a plastic bag, terrarium or greenhouse. Mature plant grown under natural conditions with bio-fertilizers under 50% shade. No doping with artificial growing techniques.

They will travel with bits in the cartons of a transplant gel releasing humidity with beneficial microorganisms and a rooting hormone like acid; a foliar transpiration reducing preservative from a natural source will also benefit a successful re-cultivation of these rooted cuttings. The change of setting may cause the leaves to fall off during transport : this is a normal adjustment of the plant to a change. After opening the carton we recommend that you wash briefly the stem ( and leaves if still on the stem ) and mix the gel into your soil; firmly stick the plant in a pot containing 50|50 coarse sand and perlite or light soil ( here we use coconut bit mixes ), cover the roots with this media and moisten; if the plants are not reestablished or if you want to root cuttings cover the entire potted plant ( or cuttings ) with a plastic bag or any transparent dome. An ideal setting comprises constant temperature and high humidity - avoid air flows ! - and enough light. Humidifiers are useful accessories in rooms growing tropical plants. The most common causes of problems are over watering, over fertilizing and fluctuations in temperature and humidity ranges. The use of a plastic bag, dome, glasshouse etc without watering is strongly advised for unrooted cuttings or BEFORE rooted plants are reestablished until new green shoots are coming and rooting has expanded : a too long period inside these devices may trigger fungi so attention is required. It may be useful to inoculate the soil with beneficial colonies of Mycorrhizae endospores that will prevent rot driven by the fungus phytophthora ( black rot ). Such endomycorrhizae inoculants will also improve the root system, help keep humidity at a good level and benefit the health of the plants.
